Ever since, ArvinMeritor has sold a large amount of assets in the loss-making light vehicle parts business last year. ArvinMeritor recently announced that it will sell its remaining assets in the light-duty vehicle parts business by the end of 2010, thus completely withdrawing from this market and specializing in commercial vehicle parts and components.
In the fourth quarter of 2009, sales of the light vehicle parts business accounted for only about 30% of ArvinMeritor’s total sales ($1.1 billion). In 2003, this business accounted for 70% of ArvinMeritor’s total business.
