Hydropower and Electric Power Bureau successfully developed water-conducting pressure steel pipe rolling technology

After nearly five months of hard work by technicians and employees of the Hydraulic Machinery General Plant, the Hydropower Fourth Bureau successfully developed a new technology of 11.5 meters large-diameter water-conducting pressure pipe from docking, turning, rolling, welding, etc. The efficiency is increased by 55%, and the quality of the steel pipe is also greatly improved.
In the construction of hydropower stations in the past, the large-diameter water-conducting pressure steel pipe was artificially welded by four curved steel plates, which was time-consuming, labor-intensive, and difficult to control. The new large-diameter steel pipe rolling technology developed by the Hydraulic Machinery General Factory adopts a one-time overall roll forming scheme, a one-time fully automated integral roll-formed pressure steel pipe, which has passed the State Key Laboratory—Lanzhou University of Technology. All-round scientific testing, all data indicators meet or exceed the design requirements. On November 23, at the results appraisal meeting organized by Huanghe Company, this technical solution was reviewed by domestic experts as “domestic leading”. This equipment has changed the traditional manufacturing process of pressure pipe manufacturing in the past, increasing the technological content, improving the mechanization level and labor efficiency.
