The contract involves the supply of 71S3np waterjets (3 per unit) and associated equipment, including a joystick control system that helps improve the mobility of the patrol boat.
The Indian Coast Guard patrol boat is designed for a speed of 33 knots and sails around the Indian coast and islands. The patrol boat's role includes coastal patrols, anti-smuggling missions, fisheries protection and search and rescue duties.
