China's electric car charging socket standard has been uniformly biased towards German standards

The issue of harmonization of electric car charging interface standards that has attracted the attention of all parties has finally turned a corner.

Recently, Wu Zhixin, deputy director of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, publicly stated at the Sino-German Cooperation International Forum on "Electric Vehicles and Sustainable Urban Transport" that the standards for charging sockets have been unified, the socket standards have been biased towards German standards, and relevant drafts have been submitted to the National Standards Committee ( The "National Standards Committee" will be referred to as the "National Standards Committee").

Industry sources pointed out that the technical harmonization of electric car charging interface standards is the most concern for car manufacturers and operators, because the size, location, and specifications of the electric interface will directly affect the cost of product R&D. At the same time, this will also put an end to the chaotic situation in which auto companies and energy companies are politicizing the charging standards for electric vehicles.

Zhao Chunming, general manager of Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd., who is responsible for drafting the electric vehicle charging interface draft, told reporters that the forthcoming electric vehicle charging standards include the general technical condition standard for electric vehicles, the DC charging standard, and the AC charging standard.

According to Wu Zhixin’s introduction, there are 56 standards related to electric vehicles, including electric motorcycle standards, vehicle standards, pure electric vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles. Among them, there are six standards for electric motorcycles, and motor standards are being developed, among which electric vehicles are Safety performance standards are also under study.
