Hyundai Auto invests 600 million U.S. dollars to develop commercial vehicle projects


Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. said on Wednesday that it has invested 600 billion won (US$653 million) in research and expansion projects in the past three years, of which two-thirds of the investment is spent on new commercial vehicle engines and upgrades. It is also expected that by 2010, sales of passenger cars and trucks will increase by 33% to 80,000 vehicles; in 2012, it will achieve 100,000 vehicles.

This year, the sales of modern passenger cars and trucks are expected to be 20,000. According to modern plans, Hyundai will strive to occupy 10% of Japan's high-end passenger car market. Modern buses are 20% to 30% cheaper than rival Japanese buses.
