It is reported that the Dutch telecom operator KPN recently announced that the Netherlands has become the world's first country to launch a national LoRa IoT application network.

LoRa is a low-power, long-range wide area network technology used to connect wireless battery-powered devices such as smart meters and remote sensors.

KPN said it has launched the first LoRa appliances in Rotterdam and the Hague last November and now offers nationwide connectivity.

The company said there are already 1.5 million devices using the network and hopes that LoRa apps will get more attention from more users this year.

Joost Farwerck, chief operating officer at KPN, said: "Last year, we found that our customers were increasingly demanding IoT applications for low-power network technologies, so we chose LoRa technology to deal with this situation, enabling millions of devices to be more Cost-effective way to connect to the network. "

KPN noted that the company currently has hundreds of mobile towers in the Netherlands with LoRa gateways and antennas to enable the connection of millions of devices.
