MacGregor was awarded the substructure mooring system for the world's first floating offshore wind farm

Recently, Cargotec's MacGregor received an order to supply the substructure connection mooring system for the world's first floating offshore wind farm, Norwegian National Oil, in the Hywind wind farm in Scotland.
MacGregor will be responsible for delivering five Pusnes sub-structure mooring systems for the five floating wind turbines of the project, which are expected to be delivered in the second quarter to the fourth quarter of 2016 and completed in 2017.
Jan Martin Grindheim, president of sales and business development at MacGregor Marine Mooring Systems, said, “The contract represents MacGregor entering a new industry sector.”
It is reported that Norwegian National Oil's floating offshore wind farm operates at a water depth of more than 100 meters, with an average wave height of 1.8 meters, covering an area of ​​about 4.2 kilometers, and about 25 kilometers from the North Sea coast of Scotland, which can supply enough electricity for 20,000 British families.
