According to reports, Toyota Motor Corp. said on May 31 that it is recalling 490,000 vehicles equipped with Takada's defective airbags worldwide.
Toyota said it is recalling 490,000 vehicles in Japan, China, Europe and other regions due to defects in passenger-side airbags, with production dates from 2005 to 2011.
Toyota added that it recalled 140,000 Lexus-branded cars in China, 80,000 Lexus and Toyota-branded cars in Europe, and 120,000 cars in the South American region. 100,000 Toyota cars in Mexico will be recalled.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a notice on May 27th that due to defects in Takada's airbags, eight car companies will recall 12 million vehicles in phases, of which Fiat Chrysler (FCA) will recall 4.3 million vehicles, Honda Toyota will recall 4.5 million vehicles, Toyota will recall 1.6 million vehicles, Mazda recalls 731,000 vehicles, Nissan recalls 402,000 vehicles, Subaru recalls 383,000 vehicles, Mitsubishi recalls 38,000 vehicles, and Ferrari recalls 2,800 vehicles.
