The key project of “Earth Pressure Balance Shield Main Bearing” undertaken by Luosha Company passed the acceptance of science and technology

On August 21st, the key project of “Earth-Pressure Balanced Shield Main Bearing”, a key project of the “Key Technology for Full-face Tunnelling Machine” in the advanced manufacturing technology field of the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” 863 Plan, was successfully undertaken by the Luoxi Company. The main bearing of the earth pressure balanced shield is the key part of the earth pressure shield. Its key manufacturing technology has been plaguing the Chinese bearing industry for a long time. During the development, the research team selected the quasi-key models, starting with the analysis of the application conditions and failure modes of the main bearings, and overcoming a series of reliability design techniques, precision machining technologies, ferrule materials and heat treatment technologies, non-destructive testing technologies, and test technologies. The key technologies have made innovative breakthroughs in the single-module back-cooled induction quenching process for large module gear rings, depth testing equipment and methods for surface quenching layers, welding technology for copper and steel cages, and shield bearing test technology. During the research of the project, the project team completed one national standard, six patents and four dissertations, and developed China's first shield main bearing testing machine.

In June of this year, the main bearings of the shield machine independently researched and developed by Luosha Company and possessing a number of independent intellectual property rights completed the work on the entrance and exit of the No. 10 subway line at Yili Road in Shanghai, during which the bearings were operating normally. This is a breakthrough in the application of the domestic shield main bearing in engineering, indicating that the domestic shield main bearing already has the strength to replace imported bearings.

During the acceptance of the project, the expert group conducted an on-site inspection of the product manufacturing process, product physical objects, and testing machines at the product production site, and conducted technical inquiries on relevant issues. In the end, the expert group fully affirmed the completion of the project and the results achieved, and made valuable suggestions on areas where the project needs improvement, and agreed that the project passed acceptance.
