China's valve industry development and upgrading in transition

In the past 2012, it has become a watershed for the development of the valve industry. The rapid growth of more than 10 consecutive years has made China's valve manufacturing industry stand at the top of the global manufacturing powerhouse. However, with the global financial crisis and the slowdown in China’s macroeconomic growth, such a situation of continuous supply for many years of the market will never return.

At present, it can be clearly seen that the total market demand for valves has been significantly reduced while the demand structure has been rapidly increasing. As a result, our orders for mass production of low-end and mid-range valves have dropped sharply, while high-end valves that are urgently needed by key users have increased. The transformation and upgrading of the industry has become an urgent historic mission. To improve the competitiveness of medium and high-end valves has become an urgent task in the current stage of transformation and upgrading.

China's valve industry has always been in the progress of development and transformation and upgrading, and has made great progress. In the past 10 years, we have passed a period of time focused on scale expansion and variety expansion. The scale and GDP of our industry have increased. Our factories have expanded, equipment has been transformed, personnel have increased, and productivity has increased. For many kinds and products, we have completed the process from scratch, that is, we never do it, can't do it, and can do it. During this period, we filled the gaps in many products and the valve market was generally in a state of supply shortage. Compared with advanced enterprises in developed countries, we are still at the low end of the global industrial chain, and the market share of high-end valves has not increased. This is mainly because our products lack sufficient market competitiveness, especially in terms of stability and reliability, and there are still quite a few gaps compared with the regulating valves, control valves, and domestic ones of advanced countries.

There are many reasons for the ineffectiveness of the transformation and upgrading of the valve industry. One of them is related to our past practice. We focused on product development, did not pay attention to the research market, did not pay attention to the completion of industrialization. Specifically speaking, it is emphasis on science and technology, light technology, heavy development and light industrialization. Our products look very good on the surface, are very advanced, and advanced functions and performance indicators can be achieved, but it will not take long for users to go wrong. Or the product itself can be used, but the manufacturing cost is high and the market is not competitive. Of course, the emergence of this situation is not related to our policy orientation. We have always paid more attention to the number of achievements and patents. We have first solved the problems with and without, filled in a lot of gaps, but failed to attach importance to the results to the market and industrialization.

Therefore, one of the main goals of our current transformation and upgrading is to concentrate our energy on doing a good job on the basis of existing scale and variety, that is, to achieve a leap from being able to do a good job.
