It is reported that Germany's MAN Diesel & Turbo recently received an order for the supply of eight diesel-electric propulsion systems from the Fincantieri company in Italy, which will be installed on two new luxury cruise ships.
According to MAN, the mainframes supplied by the company are the company's own Common-rail Injection System, which has excellent functions in terms of fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Each luxury cruise ship will be equipped with two MAN 9L32/44CR mainframes and two MAN 12V32/44CR mainframes.
In addition, the two luxury cruise ships will be owned by Viking Ocean Cruises and will be delivered to Fincantieri in early 2015 and early 2016.
